Why would the school say:
in the CDS that the 50% sat is a 1540 But on their website that the middle 50% of admitted students for their sat is 1480-1560. |
|
What's the definition of 50%? On CDS, it's the median (I believe -- could be the mean) and on the webpage it looks like they are reporting a range, perhaps 40-60%.
But it doesn't matter -- both reports are consistent with each other. |
Well, it feels like it matters for a score that is below the 50% in the cds but within the 50% on the website. Which is the 50% for applicants? |
|
CDS shows data for enrolled students. The latest CDS, 2024-2025, has data for the college class of 2028, high school class of 2024, that applied in fall 2023 to start college in fall 2024.
The admissions website typically will show data for admitted students. Score ranges for admitted students are often higher than score ranges for enrolled students. In addition, the admissions website typically has data for a different year, possibly even college class of 2029. |
Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. |
| I believe CDS is enrolled. So it’s enrolled vs admitted. Also the cds 50% is the median. The middle 50% is referencing the 25th percentile and 75th percentile. |
| It’s amazing how people throw around stats without clearly stating whether they are from all applicants, admitted applicants, or enrolled students. |
