Governor Glenn Youngkin today declared a state of emergency to provide emergency hunger relief for Virginians in response to the Democrat Shutdown causing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to run out starting November 1, 2025.

I guess the National Guard will be deployed and elections cancelled?

Delusional, much?

What a choice - tax cuts for Billionaires or keep Obama care. The Republicans want the tax cut for the rich and the democrats want affordable health to be kept in place. What a tough choice. Let the poor starve in the meantime.

Oh no, Youngkin is protecting Virginians. This fascist must be stopped!

The Republican literally just made a decision not to let them starve in VA.

Yes, because those starving people still have the energy to vote the Republicans out of office in VA otherwise he wouldn't care about whether people eat.

The Republicans wanted the cuts to food stamps, Medicaid, and more. So, how is this a problem for the governor?

Wow Youngkin noticed!

It's a problem, yes, but what will having a state of emergency do? Will he call out the National Guard to distribute food?

A state of emergency is necessary to release emergency funds. Do you people know anything about government?

He won't stand up to support the long-term solution...but he will pull this publicity stunt.

I’m pretty sure he supports Leader Schumer letting six members of his caucus vote for the CR to reopen the government and finish the appropriations bills under regular order. Just a guess.

Yes, I want him to go vote in Congress.

No, fvker. He's the governor of a large state with political pull and I want him to call out the crappy Republican bills that will hurt VA.

I want him to support Virginians.

Did you run out of adult words? Virginia's GDP is tiny and almost entirely dependent on supporting the government. He has no leverage here.

Youngkin is supporting Virginians.
