Sheperd's Pie to Freeze-HELP!

Anonymous
I've just finished a huge batch of Sheperd's Pie--the meat/veggies are all cooked through and placed at the bottom of the baking dish. The mashed potatoes are all cooked/mashed and spread on top. The next step in the cooking is placing it in the oven for 30 mins at 400F. However, I would like to use this to freeze for the next few weeks when I'll have delivered DC#2. Do I need to bake it now, or can I freeze unbaked, and bake it when I thaw it out?

Thanks so much!!

Since everything is cooked, it probably doesn't matter. Although my MIL made some vegetarian shepherd's pie for us (when DD was born) and froze it after baking. Still, I don't think it would have made much difference.

Great that you're so organized!

I would freeze it before baking it. This way you'll have the "fresh" baked pie instead of re-heating it or re-baking it 2nd time.
