Non-Catholic family applying to GC Ryken and SJC Benilde - any chance?

Do these schools ever admit non-Catholic students in these programs? I know there are very limited spaces and I’m wondering if DC even has a chance without Catholic affiliation or sibling link.

I don't know about Ryken and Benilde specifically. I'd help your kid come up with some thoughts about what attracts them to a Catholic education. I think their essay and recommendations will be important.

They admit many who aren't Catholic

A lot of non-Catholic kids apply to these programs and get in. They also apply to both of these schools as they get so many applicants. They want a balanced class. These schools also recruit.

It depends on who else is applying. If a lot of kids from Catholic feeder schools, and/or siblings of current students apply, then your chances may be limited. If not, then you have a shot.

Yes. The programs will prioritize the kids who they think will be successful, regardless of religious status.

We're Catholic, and applying, and know that it's so competitive it's going to be a long shot to get in to any of the programs.

It’s not a Catholic v non Catholic issue. It’s that the schools give priority to kids coming from Catholic feeder schools.

Yes.

We are not catholic and our kid was accepted. I am sure much depends on applications but clearly the program accepts non Catholics.

Ryken has very limited spots. They end up with approximately 40 students in each grade with MANY more applicants. You should apply, but your chances are slimmer getting into Ryken, but stronger into the school, as a whole. The school can still accommodate your child’s academic plan in standard classes if they aren’t a Ryken student.

How could you be applying to all three? Do you randomly live equidistant from the schools (which means each would be horrible commutes)?

What’s the third?

Good Counsel I presume from the post

OP here - only referencing programs at two schools - Benilde at SJC and Ryken at GC. Yes one is a longer commute but we live between the two schools.
