| I've become a master at throwing parties for young kids, but now my children are hitting the teen years and I need advice. I'd like to throw a fun party for my 14-year old (dancing, activities) and I'm searching for a venue. Any ideas of fun places to throw a teen party? Our house is small and can't accommodate 20-30 teens. I'd prefer something either in the city or close suburbs. For example, I was considering the H Street Country Club. All advice appreciated. |
| You can rent space the Lawton Center (formerly called the Leland Center) in CC, MD. My teens have gone to a few parties there, but a lot of the b-day parties for kids this age seem to be for a smaller group of kids -- maybe 10-15 kids will go to dinner in a restaurant (Mei Wah is a popular choice among my sons' friends) or a smaller group will have dinner out and then go to a movie, sometimes returning to the host's home for cake and ice cream. Depends on whether your child would like a larger group or not. |

We did a ropes course / zip line for DD's 13th bday- I could see that working well for older ages as well. We are not in DC, but I imagine there have to be some nearby...
It was pricey though- but b/c she wanted to have co-ed and I didn't really want to have to deal with supervising co-ed teens in our basement, for us, well worth it! |

| The Trenches? My son went to a Bar Mitzvah party there and LOVED it! |
| My DD went to a birthday party at something I think was called the Old Firehouse in McLean. It had a dance floor, ping pong, a little kitchen and an area with tables and chairs. |
| We''ve rented a room at the 4-H Center on Connecticut in Chevy Chase. DJ in the room, balloons for decor, they catered it with kid friendly food, and the kids also had access to the bigscreen tv and (for quarters) games. Less expensive than a lot of venues. |
| Anyone know the hours of DC Recreation locations for there multipurpose rooms? Looking to throw my 14 year old a party this fall. |
| There is an upscale bowling alley in Bethesda I think. They have catering packages for teen parties. We considered it last year. Also, an indoor trampoline park could be fun. |
We looked into the trampoline park in Columbia, but the day we want isn't available. We are going with plan B of renting out a space with a DJ. |
