| I am 50 (almost 51) and finally think that Botox might be my best option to counter-act some of the fine wrinkles. I have never had Botox; I see pricing per unit but have no clue how many units people usually need. How often do you have to get it jabbed into your face? Happy with results? Does it hurt? Pretty much give me the scoop on Botox. |

It hurts especially near mouth.
Mine lasted 4 to 5 months. You can get injection site bruising if you do it's slow to fade. I was very happy with results from my derm doc. I used 1 or 2 vials on my forehead, crowsfeet, chin area. I stopped last year after she messed up and left me with purple bruises for 3 weeks.Decided enough was enough |
|
I did it twice and then stopped after derm left me with spocked brows twice. It looked worse than the wrinkles. I'll keep the wrinkles. When she fixed the brows, my brow/lids were too droopy. There was no goldilocks solution I could find through botox.
My undereye circles are looking worse and I am curious about filler but even more scared of how that will turn out so I've stayed away thus far. Yet, I see women every day with very natural botox and filler. (I know they have it so it's not invisible but it's well done.) Wish I knew who they saw. |

I get it every 3-4 months. Costs between $500-1000 (I sometimes do my neck which drives up the cost)
I don’t find it painful and have never had significant bruising. |
| I get it in Fairfax and do the brow lift and crows feet. It is like $200 every 4 months. It is a slight pinch and I have ever had bruising. Bonus- I don't get tension headaches either |
Would you please share who you see in Fairfax. Thanks! |
I always felt that I had Spock/droopy eyebrows but when I told friends I did Botox they couldn’t believe it. I think Botox generally isn’t noticeable to others unless it’s a really poor job. But you notice the shift in your own face much more. I didn’t like it either and stopped. I have found that moisturizer + paper tape works almost as well as Botox. I put on moisturizer and smooth the paper tape over my 11’s and it basically keeps me from having smushed face in the morning. |
| I pay ~$800 every 4-5 months for 44 units of dysport. Mostly forehead and some crows feet plus what’s left n my chin. Go to a derm in Reston. Have never had an issue with eyebrow droop, but once did have an issue with imbalance on right and left side, very minor and did not feel worth a follow up to correct. Obv it wore off. I’ve been going maybe 8 years? |

I would plan for $500 - 600 - typically you're going to see 40-50 units used if you do forehead and 11s. You can ask if there are "Botox Days" where they might discount to $12/unit vs. $15/unit. Some places do that....
Everyone is different - for some, it lasts a while, for some it metabolizes more quickly. I used Botox for a while and the efficacy decreased and it was only lasting 6 weeks. I have never had bruising, but you're advised to take it easy (no exercise) for 24 hours post-injection. Most providers will offer to see you in 2 weeks to make sure it looks right, and if they feel you need more. |
| I go to Nobe in Bethesda and they are lovely. It stings but she gives you this vibrating tool to put on jaw bone and it distracts a lot from the pain. Only 32 units made a big difference for me, and it lasts 5 months, so everyone is different. There are often manufacturer coupons that Nobe has helped me use at checkout. I don’t know how much it helps with fine wrinkles |
That’s extremely cheap. Not a dermatologist I assume? |

Mine lasts less than 3 months and I don’t think I’m that fast a metabolizer.
It’s worth trying. The downside is the cost and that I feel cruddy for a day afterward (Botox flu). |
I don't get a ton of units and I like this place better than the dermatologist (who was twice the price): https://theaestheticxpert.com |

Do it two weeks before an event. It takes about a week to be fully effective (I didn’t know this the first time). You shouldn’t exercise for 24 hours.
I don’t think it hurts but I don’t like getting poked around my eyes for crows feet. That is my least favorite part. I am fair skinned and have gotten some tiny bruises. I tried moisturizer and brownies but nothing compares to Botox. I had bad 11’s and after about 3 treatments they are gone. I get it every 4 months. Cost/units really depends on how much you want done. I started small but now include my neck and get a lot. Since you are 50 it will probably be more (as compared to a 30 year old who gets it). |
