Out of the 9 universities invited to be part of Trump’s pact.
So- academic freedom at thise schools: no. Any dissent from conservative initiatives: punished. |
| Can people stop lying by saying Vandy isnt conservative |
| They haven't signed yet though. But given the geography of these two schools, it's not that surprising that they would be "open" to it. Trump took Tennessee by 30 points. |
Seriously |

All fascist politicians adopt similar tactics, and one of the most important tactics is to create a sense of unreality by undermining objective facts. Therefore, fascist politicians are threatened by independent institutions that are designed to distinguish fact from fiction: courts, independent government agencies, the press, scientists, and — of course — universities ... The compact being presented to universities is a blatant, unprecedented attempt by the executive branch to take control of public and private universities.
It’s sick. |
| Wash U is in second wave. Anyone know if they’ve said no? My kid is considering ED2 there, but this would be a dealbreaker. |
| Absolutely disgusting. Well, there goes their reputation. I feel so sorry for the kids in first, second, third year now. How awful! |
|
Most recent information is no college “accepted” the terms, vandy and u Texas just didn’t respond at all. The other seven outright rejected.
Second wave : “Amid the rejections, the administration invited additional universities to join the compact, including Arizona State University, the University of Kansas, and Washington University in St. Louis. The government has since opened the compact to any American university willing to sign on, giving institutions until November 21 to make a final decision.” |
Can they wait until Nov 22 to see? |
| No one is going to TX for school because of their draconian abortion laws |
|
If Vanderbilt were a company, DCUM would be talking about their smart “management” of the Trump Administration. Vanderbilt privately said “no,” but publicly said “let’s keep talking.” The Administration has now moved on to other schools.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt sent an email to alumni saying that they value university independence and wouldn’t budge on that. |
| BOO!!!! |
Okay Tennessee. You voted to beat on one of your strongest universities. Great job! |
Speak for yourself. My DD is really hoping for Rice. Would take UT Austin if that doesn't work out. |
| My kid crossed Vandy off his list due to their appalling Trump bootlicking |
