Guess I’m getting into cranky stage at a ripe old 47, but I don’t understand why colleagues would type ‘GM’ instead of typing out Good Morning and ‘TY’ for thank you. Doesn’t that defeat the whole polite purpose of these pleasantries? You can’t even take the time to write out the letters why are you pretending to be polite at all? Is it me? Should get with the times?

It’s messaging, not the Gettysburg Address. Let it go.
I would focus on skills and competency for my next job search.
I agree. I am solidly Gen X, and I actually hate when people message me when I’m marked busy and can’t just send an email. If it’s truly urgent, or if it’s a very quick question, I get it, but otherwise, if you wanna start a dialogue with me, at least start with an introductory email.

I find it dumb when people can't write out husband, wife, son, daughter, etc in these forums and use DH, DW, DS, DD instead.

I’m gen x but will text a gm ty and lmk cause it’s faster and a text. |
I agree it's peak laziness. So while I wouldn't do it, I'd also do my best to ignore it. Communication is constantly shifting. This is just a new phase. So making your peace will help you feel less annoyed in general.
