| Living out my childhood fantasy and have talked soon to be 8yo into a Build a Bear birthday party. Has anyone done one? Can you explain the logistics of pizza and cake? They say no food is permitted on the premises so would I book a restaurant in the mall? Seems kind of gauche to take the kids out to lunch in a restaurant to me... Is the other option to have part of the party at home but then it's annoying for parents to have to drive to different locations for the party? |

Just bring cupcakes/juice boxes/pirates booty and have it in the food court. Have another adult stake out some tables ahead of time and put stuff down and sit there to save it.
As long as you are 100% clear on the invite what and when you are feeding the kids, you do not have to serve them a meal. |
| I've take a small group of girls to the Cheesecake Factory and Build a Bear for my daughter's party. I kept it to a few close friends, parents knew I was driving there and back, but I would have been fine with them dropping off and staying at Montgomery Mall if they preferred. |
| No parent is going to deal with a 2 location birthday party. This is a terrible idea. |
Hm this all seems like a lost business opportunity. When I pictured this in my mind they had a party room in the back and we would have the birthday party back there after the bear part. Is this even a good idea? |
Would you say it was a fun party? Would you do it again? |
| It is ridiculous to try to live your dreams through your kids. What does the kid want? |
Yes, the girls enjoyed it. It's great for younger elementary school ages. Aging up is the only reason holding me back from doing it again. |
| Just take the kids to the food court. You can pre-order from one of the food court places and bring your own cupcakes. |
| How many 8yos are you talking about? if it's just 4-5 just take them to the mall then back to your house. If this is a whole class party then it's a bad idea. Also a bad idea if your child had to be talked into the party. Build a Bear isn't exactly a thing anymore. |
| We did a small party and went back to the house afterwards. If you don't want to do that I would hand out a boxed cupcake or something.similar. |
| Just take your kid to BaB on their special day. Plan a separate friend party elsewhere. |
This. Dd went to one, don’t remember if ds also went to one. They come back happy with the bears they built. It’ll be fun. |
|
Why would it be gauche to take them to a restaurant for lunch?
I had a build a bear and restaurant birthday party when I was a kid and I’m 36. It’s not a new concept. |
Yeah I don't get why feeding children lacks social grace? |
