Birthday gift ideas for 16 year old boy

Anonymous
My son is turning 16 in November and I'd love gift ideas. He cares about his skin (is great about wearing sun screen and washing his face and applying stuff our dermatologist prescribed). Cares about clothes. Is t adverse to cologne but no idea of what's in. And no, we aren't getting him a car! We live in DC and he metros and buses everywhere. Would appreciate some ideas. Thanks

Ask him. Mine makes me a list.

I did ask him and he didn't really have any suggestions. He's not the kind of kid who asks for a lot. Are there hair or skin care product lines that are popular with HS boys that are good quality? How about shoes?

Why not get him a knitting kit, hmmm OP?

Boys can, and do, knit too you know.

Does he enjoy any specific bands? Look for tickets to their shows. Get him a shirt for the band to open up as well.

Do guys own a car? Does he have plans to drive? Even though I didn't have my own car, my folks gave me a set of the family car keys on a nice keychain when I turned 16.

Like the concert or sporting event idea as well.

A car obviously. Or at least his own set of car keys to the family station wagon (suv) or whatever you have.

Cooking gifts.

A microwave ramen cooking dish was a big hit with my kid.

If he eats soft-boiled or hard-boiled eggs, the little egg cooker appliances work really well vs. stove cooking.

As far as fashion, my boys liked puffer jackets from Uniqlo and another mall store in interesting colors. So a nice coat might be appreciated.

Maybe a messenger bag?

I know this is retro but are there any magazines he'd like? GQ? Men's Health?

I think there are lots of gift crates/blind box subscription services. Maybe something like that for skin care?

Tie holder and some fashionable ties?

A belt wardrobe?

Boys this age often lack nice accessories. And it's more fun to get things you've never had before. My kids have appreciated "just right", good quality belts.
