Invited to a Channel the Flannel 40th birthday party … ideas needed

Channel the Flannel to be specific. So it’s a directive for all guests to wear flannel to celebrate the birthday girl turning forty.

I plan to buy a flannel button down. Would you pair it with jeans and a T-shirt or leggings?

I'd embrace the grunge and wear a flannel around my waist with a tank top, jeans and Doc Martens.

You could wear a flannel shirt over a grunge band tee, jeans and boots to channel the 90's, the golden age of flannel.

Absolutely NOT leggings and for god's sake don't wear it with a puffy vest and knee high boots. It's channel the 90s, not channel 2010.

Don't listen to the people born in the 90s who are suggesting flannel dresses. OMG.

I was in HS in the 90's and can assure you the ONLY person wearing a flannel dress was Angela Chase, on My So-Called Life. And it was neither cute, nor hot.

I agree that we did not wear flannel dresses, but we sure did wear flannel skirts! Class of 1997.
