| If you take probiotics regularly can you talk about what effect they have for you? |
| Did not help. |
| Helped a lot but |
| I started taking Probiotic Pearls at suggestion of travel clinic before going to China and Indonesia. Eventually started taking them daily. Don't know what the effect is but poop never smells weird. |
| Made me much more regular and basically stopped my occasional diarrhea. |
| They mess my stomach up, with tons of gas and bloating. I feel better when I don't take them....eating a variety of different vegetables can regulate your gut biome naturally. |
|
No. A friend who is a scientist and specializes in gut flora told me that they are nonsense.
Not gut flora in general, lol, but probiotics as a product that you buy in the store. Even if there are "billions" in the bottle you buy, they aren't going to be the flora you would want to add for gut health. Are probiotic supplements a scam? Yeah, kinda. |
This it's horrible. Gastro told me to stay away from them and just eat yogurt. |
|
I've been told to take them but have never found a brand that seemed to actually do anything.
I've switched to eating more kimchi and yogurt and kefir, which is cheaper, tastes better, and may/may not be helping my health but at least it doesn't make me feel like I'm wasting my money |

People who rag on probiotics don’t know what they’re talking about and/or are just parroting the pharma lines.
I have IBD and probiotics help me a ton in regulating bloating, gas and reducing pain I get from certain foods. You have to take the type that your doctor knows is right for you and get it from a reputable source/brand. |
| I can't take them because of the horrific gas pains they all cause. I eat a little yogurt everyday. Just a few bites os enough. |
| I tried to take them and they caused horrible gas, bloating, and constipation. I will stick with my yogurt from now on. |

Registered dietitian here.
You should be getting probiotics from the food and beverages you consume. Not supplements. |
| No, just eat fiber rich foods. Veggies, whole grains, and fruits. Fermented foods too. |
| DH just had a stay in hosp with antibiotics that did a number on his gut. They started giving him prebiotic supplements but as soon as he was leaving they told him to eat yogurt (real stuff, not the sugary pudding) every day for a while. |
