VA Jrs

Anybody know how much extra items are for VA Jrs outside of tuition? Cost for nationals, anything else? Pros / cons?

travel isn't included like it is with VA Elite if that's what you are asking? Fees for nationals additional but that's it.

Do other clubs charge for more/other things that aren't listed?

We've been with Jrs for 4 years and aren't open to leaving the club despite recruiting for other clubs. DD loves her teammates and is happy.

Site says $350 for the year for conditioning. That seams low. Is that right?
How much was nationals extra fees?

Thanks

As an add-on, this seems reasonable. Assuming conditioning once per week for the season (~6 months), this comes down to more than $10, but less than $15 per session. If the conditioning is volleyball-focused, rather than general-type conditioning, that's even better. Paying Virginia prices for club fees, you would hope that they would include conditioning, but why not nickel and dime you a little more?

Regarding conditioning, is this basic stretching and running or Pure Motion-like with jumping and weight training? That's a big difference.

Unless things are changing drastically from last season, the conditioning is optional and only a few players from DD's team participated. USAV Nationals was an additional $500.

VAJRS seems like they have a less competitive schedule and fewer tournaments than other similarly ranked clubs. Does it seem like enough and the right tournaments? Especially for exposure.

Conditioning is optional? I don’t know anything about their training. My daughter didn’t make their team but their teams are always good. The better teams all seam to have some sort of conditioning. Did the girls do conditioning on their own or a different program if they didn’t do one with the team?

I'm looking at our fees sheet from last season (2024-25).

The fees included coaching, practice space (regular season), equipment, coaches travel (regular season), tournament fees (regular season), and uniform package.

The sheet also lists items not included in the fees: travel expenses (players and parents), USAV/AAU Nationals, additional coaching and court space for Nationals, performance training ($40/month).

My DD did the performance training for a few months last season. This was optional. This year, the "performance coach" is a head coach (wasn't the case last year, I believe), so I don't yet know if that dedicated training will be offered. Given the practice venue change (from KAA to The Fieldhouse), I don't know if the club will be able to offer dedicated time/space for any conditioning that isn't incorporated "practice" time.

There was no additional charge for team conditioning that teams did before/after practice (no more than 30 minutes). So, I'll take back my claim that conditioning was optional. It just wasn't its own line item with its own specified fee.

Alright ... New info courtesy of the club director (no, that's not me ;p )

The $350 listed for "Performance Training" (as listed https://www.vajuniors.com/page/show/1453430-club-information) is required for ALL players this upcoming season. This amount is directly paid to The Fieldhouse.

The Fieldhouse is charging $25K to use/manage the facility for the season ... before hourly court rates. In other words, the club still pays for court time on top of the $25K (out of the club fees, I presume). The club is evenly distributing this charge, resulting in the $350 per player fee. Again, this fee is being paid directly to The Fieldhouse. Sure, the club could have added the $350 to the fees paid to the club, but opted for this way instead.

That's all I know, so someone would have to reach out to the club for more info.

How did u13 and u14 tryouts go? Did the new paramount 3rd team or metro national team impact players? Did juniors end up with solid players? Teams formed or still waiting on accepts.

Not sure about how the juniors tryouts went, but the Metro National teams are only at 15, 16, and 17s this year so any impact can’t be assessed yet.
