NCSL club switch

Anonymous
Hello all. Our DD is playing on an NCSL club (first year of travel) and she has interest from a better club and higher level team. Is it possible to move clubs within NCSL between the Fall and Spring seasons? Based on my reading of rules it should be but also it’s kind of fuzzy. Any clear yes or no is appreciated.

Check bylaws in club rulebook. Pay your dues first

I should’ve been slightly clearer that the current situation isn’t the best. Would prefer to stay put but feel as though hand is being forced.

You’ll have to double pay. Your current club won’t refund you for the spring season, and the new club will charge you. If you’re fine with that it shouldn’t be a problem, kids change mid season all the time.

That was my assumption and we are going to consider that for sure. Appreciate it.

OP, it’s not a league issue, it’s a club issue. The club owns your player card and it cannot be switched until your financial obligation is satisfied (or forgiven) by your current club. Your new club cannot take you on until you are released from your old club.

But your instinct to switch is probably a good one. We hung out at a dead end club for a year too long and our kid’s development suffered as a result. We are still trying to break into the top team as a result. The 2nd team is fine, but the coaching sucks compared to the top team. You’re probably better off switching sooner rather than later.
