You often hear a celeb or public figure or athlete saying someone slid into their DMs or was sending them hate messages. They also talk about getting gifts sent from fans etc.
How does this happen? Wouldn’t you need a public figure / celeb to follow you to be able to send them a DM? Is there a platform where you can send DMs to anyone? Are people sending gifts to agents of managers and they sift through and deliver certain items? I just saw a very famous person talk about gifts he received recently from fans and he also thanked his fansfor all the messages they sent him during a recent difficult time and I started wondering how this all happens! |

Nice try…

| Just romance them the old fashioned way, by going through their garbage and hiding behind the can waiting for them to come out and then you can woo them. |
|
OP here! I barely use social media and I am far too old to be contacting anyone for romance! I was just curious as to how it happens.
The person I saw talking about was Lewis Hamilton whose dog had just died and he talked about all the messages he had gotten from fans, and he showed some art done by fans of his dog. I was curious as to how these fans have access to him? |
| You can comment on their Instagram posts. If you are an Instahoe with lots of pictures, they might follow you. At least this is my understanding. |
Instagram. |
| I don't think you can message just anyone on Instagram. You have to be following them and they have to be following you I think. |
Nope, not at all. I've messaged many people or companies I don't follow to ask questions. The person you're sending a DM to just have to have their privacy settings open to receiving DMs from anyone. |
| You have to be hot |

I heard Jungkook saying people text and call his cell, send delivery food to his house and trespass on his property. He asks fans not to do that stuff. He can’t accept any deliveries and anyone trespassing gets stuck in the garage until the police come. The company prosecutes for stalking.
As for how it happens, insider people within the company sell the celebrity’s private number and schedule to people who stalk him at airports and everywhere else. These crazies follow them around and try to get in touch however possible. |
Probably public messages like on twitter or what have you. For fan art: they do have public addresses like PO boxes for that sort of thing. |
+1 Not sure why this is a mystery. |
| I think if you work for a network, like CBS or NBC and they know which city you work in, fans can send you fan mail care of the network. |
This. Know a few people who have met/talked to celebs via SM. They are all very attractive. The ways I've seen it happen 1. Some celebs have their messages open and do scroll through them. And they respond to people 2. Respond to people after seeing their comments on posts 3. See this person being tagged in a bunch of comments 4. Have some random mutuals |

Hot or have a freaky niche.
Didn’t Harry say he first contacted Meghan through Insta DM? |
