Does anyone have more information about the email that was sent out?

I found this:

"The center conducted a summer program for approximately 250 children ages 4 to 12 years enrolled at an off-site satellite location for four weeks that was not approved under the terms of the current license issued by the department."

REPEAT VIOLATION:

The center is required to obtain background checks from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.

Staff #2, employed for eight years, did not have documentation of requesting a central registry check from one state.

Look up most any child care facility on that site and you will see some violation so Congressional camp shouldn’t be singled out. The link also says the complaint was not valid
and doesn’t mention abuse.

I would have thought with the cost of those camps they could afford someone to do background checks and licensing.

The report says 'The preponderance of evidence gathered during the investigation does not support the allegations; therefore, the complaint is determined to be not valid.'

As a parent of a young camper, I would feel better if the report said there was no evidence. Could this mean it could be a he/she said problem?!??

The report also says the complaint was “relating to allegations in the areas of staffing and supervision, staff qualification and training, and programs” — which doesn’t sound like abuse.

Either OP has info about something else entirely or has completely misrepresented the situation.

Not OP but received email referenced in 1st post.The HOS sent mass email informing that an allegation from July was referred to CPS and found not valid. The school provided a law firm POC to gather more info from all campers and provided resources to talk to kids about sex safety. I dont remember any info about no bakground check and licensure.

Congressional Camp has a reputation - it's older kids and counselors that are the perpetrators so it would not be found in the VA DSS database. If you live in Arlington, you can look through the MONA archives to find information on past instances, unless it's been scrubbed.

This is really disturbing. The same counselors work at the school and babysit. Please contact the lawyers if you have information from any allegation made in the past no matter how long ago. Call ALETA LAW

Are you seriously suggesting calling Aleta law? This firm has engaged in conduct that I can only describe as deeply disturbing and unethical. These "lawyers" have a history of making knowingly false statements

This is the law firm Congressional hired to investigate for them and was sent to parents for them to contact. They must not be serious in learning about problems based on what you are saying. How can parents connect to share stories and collect information? This issue sounds more widespread than the email relayed.

No disrespect intended toward you. This firm is essentially a group of cover up specialist. Some of their conduct is potentially a violation of the rules of professional conduct and actually has potential criminal implications. If Aleta law is reading this they're welcome to sue me. We can see who's telling the truth and who's lying

I am so sorry about what you experienced at camp and in the school’s response. The school is not truthful and covers up everything. Please suggest a private way to connect people.

“Intensive Plan of Correction”? Repeat violations are not a good look. Congressional’s problem is systemic. Stop trying to hide and downplay it.

Didn't attend this camp. Just familiar with this firm and some of the DISTURBING conduct they engaged in at a boarding school in New England. Frankly, these people shouldn't be licensed to practice law. They essentially protected a head of school and board chair who knowingly protected a pedophile
