| My son has a chance to go to Choate because my sister is a high-ranking administrator there with significant pull in the admissions department. He's excited at the prospect of going there. I know it's prestigious, but not sure if the experience is right for him. Does anyone here have experience with Choate? It seems very large for a boarding school, and the students are given a lot of freedom and independence for mere high schoolers. From what I understand, they're basically unsupervised most of the time and spend tons of time all over the neighboring town. |
| Let him. Different connections, experience. |

It would be a completely different experience.
I went to a similar school as a Day Hop. Eighty percent of the students were boarders. There were lots of reasons for their families to send them there. For some it was a family tradition. For some the home situation meant the boarding school was a better alternative. Others came from areas where the public schools were awful and there were no other privates. |

Ask your friggin sister weirdo. |
+1. Seriously |
| lol they don’t spend their time in the neighboring town. They take the train into NYC. If you aren’t okay with that, don’t send your kid there. |
Agree…not even a well-disguised troll. |
