Good place to have my armpits waxed? (And tips if you'd had it done?)

I'm so tired of shaving. Is there a cheap, clean place to get my 'pits waxed in upper NW (AU/Cathedral Heights/Glover Park area)?

I go to European Wax Center in Cleveland Park. They charge 29 for a pit wax. You can buy a package that brings the price down. It is easy. I’m in and out in about 7 minutes, maybe less.

I haven’t done this in the US but won’t any waxing place be able to do this? It hurt like the dickens, for me at least. And you’ll have to let the hair grow enough to get it waxed a second time. I prefer to just shave daily.

I used to do this in my home country: tried salons and home waxing. It didn't hurt terribly, but there were always some stubborn hairs that would need to be plucked out. I find it easier to shave, honestly.

Lately I've been trying the laser hair removal at home with one of those hand-held devices. Maybe I'm not diligent enough with the sessions, but after 6 months the hair grows back. Somewhat sparser, which is nice. So maybe consider that as well? I use the Braun IPL Pro 5.

Let it grow. Some men find it sexy.

I haven’t been going to salons for this in ages, and use the silk epil at home. But at the salon, it’s a much faster (and less painful) process. The hair also thins out with repeated waxing and it hurts less. If this is first time ever doing waxing it’ll hurt a bit more than the following times, but it’s nothing major.

Take a shower before you go, and then after.

+1. Use the Intuition razor.

Very few.

Not the types I want paying attention to me.

This. Save the money you would waste at a wax shop for something worthwhile like good hair cut/colour.

This is a very simple job; any waxer will do it in less than 5 minutes.

I do it myself with Veet or Nair wax strips. Just press in the direction of the hair and rip off the opposite. I use 2 strips on each armpit. A box of strips is like $12.

I had laser hair removal of pits in 2005 and never had to shave again. Best thing ever.
