Futsol options for 2010G?

Feel out of the loop but what are Futsol options for 2010G in Northern Virginia? DD plays top team for club (with no futsol) and no longer interested in HS track. Thanks In Advance.

Not OP, but perhaps the kid enjoys playing and is not “chasing” anything?

Ridiculous and ignorant. Futsal provides an excellent environment for purely technical ball mastery in reduced spaces elevating your cardio demand and increasing your mental speed of thought and execution.

In short, it exposes players without exquisite (especially first) touch on the ball and/or ability to ‘play quick’

If your child UNDERSTANDS he/she must be capable to think faster than the rest and have the technique to follow through he is right where coaches will fight to pick him/her up.

Depends where you are geographically. Alexandria, Arlington, TSJFA, GFR & Revolution have large futsal academies with multiple teams in Virginia. Other options exist in DC & Maryland. In10sity operates in both VA & Maryland. Also some other smaller academies & teams in the DMV with only a few age groups.

I know of more injuries in older kid futsal than in any other sport. Just consider.

Man, that's tough. My DD played Futsal up through U16. She had a team that year, but her outdoor club season ran so long, I think she played only a few of the futsal games. Not playing this year. Plus, as they got older, there were fewer and fewer girls teams and they ended up playing younger boys in most games.

Folks have recommend the options that I am aware of as well. Good Luck!

The "problem" with Futsal as players get older is the fields get cramped and the benefits of small sided games becomes questionable. Once you get to 11v11 footskills help but they're more table stakes for top teams.

The other issue with futsal for older players is that it teaches players to stand more upright in a single position and passing vs moving forward on a bigger field basically being a ball hog. Both types of player have their time and place but olders tends to favor ball hogs and individual effort over posession team play. Which I personally think is stupid because a well coached possession team can beat a direct opponent at all levels. The problem is posession and skills take time to develop as a team. Recruiting the big fast ball hog that scores is easy.
