favorite "drink" while pregnant?

Anonymous
I have some pregnant friends coming over for dinner in a couple nights and want to offer then a "drink". It's been long enough since I was pregnant that I forget what I enjoyed for something special. Anyone have suggestions for something non-alcoholic but yummy/fun? TIA!

I used to mix cranberry juice and ginger ale and serve it in a martini glass.

Cranberry juice, seltzer and lime in a nice glass.

Or sparkling cider.

For me it was just about any fruit juice (orange, cranberry and pom/cranberry were my favs) mixed with sparkling water.

I'd have something non-carbonated on hand. I don't know about anyone else but I haven't been able to have any carbonated drinks since becoming pregnant because they make me really belchy!

Freeze some cranberries (or other berries, I suppose) and throw them in as ice cubes. Looks pretty.

Also - while it's nice to want to have something special to offer your pregnant friends, don't forget to at least let them decide whether they want to share the "real" drinks as well - not everyone avoids alcohol completely (though maybe you already know that they do, and if so, ignore this suggestion!), and I found it offputting when people assumed I couldn't have a glass of wine on a special occasion.

When I was pg and we went out to dinner, I asked the bartender to make me a fun NA drink. She made a nonalcoholic mojito that was very good- sugar, mint, soda water and maybe something else (lime?), I believe. It was quite tasty and very reminiscent of the real thing!

OP what a nice thoughtful friend you are...all the above sound great, soy milk is good too. Most my friends used to order ranberry juice too!

Anything in a wine glass...pelligrino worked...stilll does, i am considering just giving up drinking alcohol all together after the baby -- if u buy some fun cocktail glasses i think anything works.

its all about the presentation right !

Here's what's been getting me through my pregnancy as a single woman whose friends like to go to bars:

* non-alcoholic beer (most have 0.5% alcohol, about a 10th of a Miller lite) - particularly Sharp's, Buckler & O'Doul's Amber
* pre-mixed frozen blender drinks made with no alcohol - "pink lemonade" is my favorite
* club soda w/ cranberry juice
* virgin 007 w/ orange juice and sprite/7-up
* old-school shirley temple w/ sprite/7-up and grenadine (don't forget the maraschino cherries)
* water jazzed up with a to-go packet of powdered lemonade mix (there are a ton of flavors out there now - crystal lite, propel, etc.)
