Looking for recent reviews/ experiences of this specialty program as my information on it is dated. Particularly in regards to classroom behavior, tech use and engagement. Also do they now have a rule about kids bringing phones to school or not? We know that the school is moving to the RGMS site.

My son is in 4th grade and we love it. K-4 do not have laptops to bring home, but they do use computers for some things at school. I doubt you'd find many schools that do not have a lot of tech in the classroom.
My son does not have a phone, but he does have a watch he can call us on. He is not allowed to use it during school hours, but they let him have it. |
I have a kindergartener. So far, things are going well. She likes it. Very active PTA. There are about 24 kids in her class. She has a watch but cant use it. There is a teacher, a paraprofessional, and I think one more classroom helper. Despite the teachers, my daughter has had challenges with classmates behavior, in class, but the teacher is responsive to my concerns.

They have open houses every other week or every month at the moment. It was helpful to see the school but also not helpful because they are moving to the Robert Goddard Montessori school and will share the facilities there. The administrator giving us the tour wasn't sure which building(s) they'd be able to use there and said eveything was a 'negociation'. The middle schoolers helping with the tour were very enthusiastic and some of the teachers seemed great. The behavior in the K classrooms, was noticeably worse than in first or second grade, and we we were told we would not see older grades that day so we couldn't observe older classes at work. Overall it seems like a strong program, laptops and videos (in French) in the library excluded. It's just hard to imagine what it will be like in a new building or in modular classrooms at the new site.

Since they are fusing with RGM, will they have the same montessori requirements? I noticed DKFI is not listed as an option for my son (PK4) in the lottery this year. He has not attended montessori.
No they will not. They will just be sharing the same buildings / grounds but operate as two different schools. They did say they would ride share for the busses though . In the future they may also share sports and other extra curricular options.
