1 night in Madrid, where to stay

I have one day and night to spend in Madrid as part of a vacation elsewhere. Can anyone recommend a hotel (or area of the city) that would be good for a first time visit, walkable, charming etc since I will have little time there. I'll be a solo female traveler. Thanks.

Gran Via is the Main Street in central Madrid. Close to Plaza Mayor would be good. What is your budget?

Maybe the Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro? We didn't stay there, but it seems to get good reviews and it's close to the Ibiza neighborhood where we had an Airbnb. Loved the neighborhood and it's close to El Retiro - the big park in Madrid.

The upside of staying in the Gothic Quarter is that it is something to see so you don't have to worry about waking up early, or being out late. If you are out at an odd time, it's "open" and people are around. Also, very cool.

Bumping this, as I have the same question and would love some specific hotel suggestions. Already have the Thompson Madrid on my list but would like a few options. Will be arriving mid-day on a Sunday and leaving Monday morning. Thanks!
