Do people videotape everything or is it fake?

There are so many specific videos online, last week I saw what looked like a body cam at a wedding and the person captured the bride chastising her guest who was wearing white. Videos of people in their living room getting first baby steps. Sleeping people. "security cams" at restaurants perfectly in line with the table in subject. Videos in poorer countries of a street robbery. Is it all staged, or do people really walk around with a video on them 24/7?

Yeah, I wonder how they happen to catch the cat on video doing some crazy, cute thing. Cats don’t respond well to coaching!

Perhaps, some are real and some are fake?

Mostly staged. I watch everything with a wide net of skepticism. Once you see them as fake, you can't see them as real. Apparently, a lot of the engagement and gender reveal videos are totally faked. And do not get me going on those fake "cooking" videos where they make something in a gross way, or there's something strange in the background (like a doll head on the counter), or weird items in the fridge (like a roll of toilet paper). Obviously created for maximum comments and viral sharing. I have unsubscribed from some popular YouTubers because they seem to be posting odd things for the comments.

Watch videos of people at public events or accidents, etc.
90% of people are on their phone and most are recording something.

It's pathetic. And that doesn't even cover all the "security" cameras, spying cameras, drones, satellite surveillance, etc.

It can be hard to tell.

There is a smoke shop near my house whose owner reenacts fake arguments in front of his business, presumably to draw attention to it online? Not quite sure, because I don't speak the language the fake fight is in. I see them rehearsing takes and everything, and off-camera, the participants get along great.

But I follow some accounts online that are not fake at all. They're generally professionals who record themselves doing whatever their job is. One of these people is a professional hunter of nuisance species in the Florida Everglades. He also goes to the Amazon to document his findings of species. That guy takes a lot of risks with very dangerous animals, and that attracts eyeballs.

I just went to lunch yesterday with two friends. They both had their phones out and one kept hers on the table. Mine was in an inside pocket in my purse the whole time.

When I go see my niece and nephew my phone is in my bag near the front door the entire time. I want to pay attention to them. My niece is ten and I've taken a video of her once, when she wanted to do something funny.

Leaving your phone on the table is extremely common.

I’m alway creeped out by the videos of people casually sitting in their living room only for something to happen. Video is from security camera. Who puts security cameras inside the house pointed at the sofa? Unless a burglar is breaking in to sit on the sofa and watch tv what is the point? Nothing worth stealing in the room either. So weird.

I've wondered the same, and I'm assuming staged in a lot of situations.

A colleague has a security camera recording inside 24/7. I don’t get it. I could see it for overnight and when you’re not home, but why while you’re sitting on the couch chatting? It picks up sound too. The lack of privacy would kill me.

We have some neighbors who have these cameras set up inside their houses, and I'm a little put off by it. Walking into someone's kitchen with a camera is pointing at me just doesn't make me feel very neighborly.

Yeah avoid those kind of people. They obviously cannot be trusted.

I can never get my cats to do anything interesting while I am recording. I just try to remember for later. The second I take out the phone, they find so.ething cooler to do.

Most of my crew has phones in pockets or bags but if I don't have pockets phone goes on table. It used to be to check on kids/babysitter but now it's just to look things up from our conversations. It's rare; maybe picked up 1X in a meal.
