In the past few days there have been two charges on my DH's cards (two separate accounts) that he did not make and he still has the cards in his posession.
How can this happen? If it were skimming, I would think it would only be on one card - the fact that it is on two is very strange. Even more strange, one of the charges was for electronics that were requested to be delivered to our house! Were / are the thiefs planning to come here and pick up? Ugh. So creeped out right now. |

Technically, that is not identity theft (as they did not steal your identity, but just used your account).
First thing you need to do is cancel your card. Then you need to run a credit report (it's free if you have not done it three times in the past year). http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/ Check out the FTC's site with information here - You may also want to file a complaint here - http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx Hope this helps - |
| Call the police. Explain the whole situation. Maybe they want to intercept the crooks, who might very well come by your house to pick up the packages from your doorstep. |
| Any chance you've got teenagers in the house? |
| Someone got ahold of a charge receipt, or copied the numbers down. I would cancel the card. |
| when you are waiting to make a purchase and have your card out in your hand, some thieves take pictures of an exposed card with a cell phone camera |

Believe me, this is NOT identity theft. Just cancel the card. Contest the charges - they will be taken off your account immediately.
