Why do people insult the opposite gender and then think they want to date you?

Its just that, why the negativity? This is especially true in people that have been married and are now divorced.

You need to look up "negging" which was widely spread through the manosphere as a good way to pick up women who'd be easy to control.

It's basically a test to see whose self-esteem is low enough to tolerate other crappy behaviors. Major red flag.

Either that, or the "prove me wrong" gambit. "All men/women suck. Prove me wrong." Same strategy, still a red flag. This type will blame everything on you, and use any "failings" you may show to support their pre-existing narrative that the opposite gender sucks, no exceptions.

They have no self-awareness or even common sense to reason out that this is a problem. Avoid them. They're telling you who they are.

They probably generally don't like most anyone and even if they like you, your life will be lived in isolation or worse.

If people insult the opposite gender in front of me - either man or woman- I correct them.
