DD’s AP seminar teacher does not really teach well. It is the teacher’s first time teaching this class, and she cannot explain things clearly—not sure if she herself understands the contents. One student brought it up to counselor, and requested to change class. Instead of changing class, counselor emailed the teacher about it. So far, no response from the teacher or improvement in class.
It is going to be self-taught. Besides videos posted by college board and class notes posted on Schoology (which is not of much help), what are other useful materials to watch/read? Any recommendations on how to study the class by oneself? |
| This course needs to be actually taught. It centers on research skills. All too often teachers are selected who have no actual experience conducting college level research. Students take it to boost number of AP credits which is not a valid reason. The counselor should steer student towards something that will actually benefit intellectual growth. |
| Should never have signed up for this new class. It was just to say I have another AP class under my belt. I would drop the class and move into English 10 or 11 HN. Not sure what grade. |
How do you now know if you should be in 10 or 11? |
It’s based on the actual grade your child is in. What planet are you from?! |
Isn’t the point of signing up to earn the AP Capstone diploma (& to learn research, writing, & presentation skills) ? Does the school not have that? |
