Finding a team's ranking

Anonymous
This has been a constant question on this forum, so I am making a dedicated thread. Here are step-by-step instructions:
* go to https://advancedeventsystems.com/rankings/Female/U14/aes
* change 14 with the age where your player will play during the incoming season (depends on the birthday, not on the grade)
* type the name of the club you are interested in
* select the Chesapeake region if you are interested in the regional rankings

If you need these instructions to find rankings, you are likely new to club volleyball. Your DD is at least intermediate if not an advanced player after playing a few rec sessions. Trust me when I say that she is a beginner compared to a player with 1 year of club experience. Here is how you should select clubs for tryouts:
* select the Chesapeake region to limit your search to local clubs
* find the middle of the list and ignore pretty much everything in the top 50%.
* start going down the list from that point
* decide how long you are willing to drive for practice
* use Google to figure out which clubs on the list are within that driving distance
* great clubs to try out for have teams in both the top and bottom 50%: you are trying out for both a dream team and a team where you have a more realistic chance to get an offer from.

While responding on a different thread, I realized that I missed an important factor: the age. While you could make it into a really good club if you start early, the doors start closing for beginner players at older ages.

Thanks for this information. I saw some other section of this Forum has some threads with common questions stuck to the top for new comers. I'm not sure how to set up those, but hope an admin can do something like that. A DMV volleyball 101.

I am bumping this thread for those who need to find team rankings.

I am here to say that being on the best club is not always the answer. Find a good coach and a convenient location and call it a day. Your kid will have fun and learn a ton - unless you are sure they will be a D1 recruit, don't think too much about club rankings.

My kid plays for a mid-level club. She loves her coach and lives, eats and sleeps volleyball. The team practices 10 minutes from our house. She also refuses to try out for a higher ranked team because she is happy where she is.
