Major World Bank shakeup coming?

Anonymous
I've been hearing rumors of a major World Bank shakeup coming, possibly being announced as early as next week.

Anyone have some inside information? I am hearing staff cuts, but not sure how large.

Hmm. I know people working there, including some at the top, and haven't heard anything.

Do you know them in a way that they would talk to you if there was a major change coming up? Like is this a spouse or close confidante, or do you just have neighbors or people you know through your kids? People are not going to blab about this to a casual acquaintance.

There have been some reports about them moving some divisions around and announcing at the October meeting. Mostly to deal with climate change and DEI, apparently to appease Trump:

(sorry for subscriber link, but I think you still see the gist even if you don't subscribe).

I saw this announcement but the rumors I heard were much bigger.

So far we’ve gotten some emails about some admin changes related to how we manage budgets, actually really positive things from what I can tell. There is a rumor going around about upcoming announcements around oct 8 but nothing specific - talk about consolidation of units, from what I gather some management positions might be cut, but nothing specific mass firings or anything like that.

It's a close friend. If there's a shake-up, he'd absolutely know about it, and he would never tell me in so many words (because ethics), but he'd tell me there's something afoot. We've talked about other WB stories, but not this one. Probably because he's not in a position to be directly impacted.

Hopefully the bloated salaries will be slashed. Ridiculous wall street type salaries need to be slashed.

There's a World Bank mom at my school and she has been so fake nice to Feds since January. I don't wish I'll on anyone but wouldn't be ironic.

She's all: "So sorry you lost your job! We're lucky because DH's job at the World Bank is so stable and out won't be affected by all these politics. That's all to say, we've got plenty of money and time, and now you have time at least, want to get lunch? My treat because you're so brave and I'm sure have to start watching the budget "

I hear Trump will be pulling out of a lot of international organizations, like OECD, OSCE and possibly World Bank.

There’s consolidation happening on the internal financing side of the WB. One division is going to handle all of it centrally now.

Oh wow when you said "World Bank mom" I thought at least she actually worked there.

There are few things more annoying than a woman who is smug about her husband's job. Get a life, ladies.
