Mock SAT test

I was told high school provides mock test to high school students during weekends. My DC doesn’t know about it. Is it correct?

It’s called the PSAT.

Ok so it’s PSAT. Whom should I contact to schedule one?

OP, it's best for your child to reach out to their HS counselor. Each school might do mock SATs a bit differently, and they are sometimes funded/organized by the academic booster club. Also may differ between private/public schools. There may also be an option for mock ACT test.

As for PSAT, that is typically taken during school hours in October and this is standard at all FCPS high schools. They take it in 10th grade (more for practice) AND 11th grade (to potentially qualify for National Merit Scholarship Awards). You don't have to opt-in or pay for this, at least at FCPS schools. Private schools may do it differently.

The school will let you know. You do not need to schedule it. All will take it who wish to do so.

Yes, agree to the above that it's best to reach out to the school counselor. At our FCPS high school, my kid took PSAT in 10th grade, will soon take PSAT in 11th grade. She has taken free mock SATs/ACTs that are available online through College Board and Applerouth, but not through the school.

I don’t think OP is asking about the PSAT. The mock SATs are typically offered on weekends at a high school as a fundraiser for the school and they are put on by a private tutoring company, like Applerouth. The school advertises them so you can ask the college counseling center if there is info on it. Here is an old ad I found about it:

Educational Connections use to offer proctored practice SAT/ACTs. You could google them.
