ICE Actions at Schools

At schools this week, ICE with MPD and Homeland Security have shown up to detain and arrest people in full view of kids and families. It’s been a really terrible scene of kids crying, adults screaming and filming, law enforcement officers threatening the bystanders to keep them back.

Is ICE action impacting your school? What is your principal saying about it? Is this a widespread problem or just isolated incidents? Is there anyway to get these actions away from schools?

DC Bilingual has spoken up about recent ICE activities happening in view of their students.

The FreeDC movement, which is responding to ICE arrests, National Guard in our streets, and fighting the fight for home rule, is having a citywide fair this weekend -- an event in each ward. They are the most visible and organized group I know who is doing this work. Whether you can attend this or support in another way, it would make a difference.
