Glassdoor reviews

How much can a person rely on Glassdoor reviews?

For example, if a company has only 2.5 stars, should I stay away from an offered executive position?

Triangulate by looking at companies your friends work at and ask them. It also depends on how many reviews there are, and for what location.

I work at an F500. Most of the written reviews for my headquarters location are fairly truthful.

It’s like yelp - you get a mix of the best and the worst. If it’s a lot of reviews (100+) then I would be very cautious.

I’d spend some time looking at the reviews and seeing why. Is it the most recent reviews? Older reviews? How does this align with what you’ve been told? Are you being brought in for a turnaround? Are they honest about it? I’ve found glassdoor to be good info typically, and would take it seriously, but a datapoint that benefits from further context seeking.
