problem with search function

When I use the search function in a particular forum, the results seem to come up with no order to the dates. Is there a way to have the most recent posts earliest? Also, I can't even find the question that I posted.
Any advice would be appreciated (assuming I can find this thread).

Unfortunately, the search function on this it not very good. If you are searching within a forum, there is no way to order the results. If you go to the search page, you can use the Google Custom search which does not necessarily give better results, but it gives different ones. So you might get lucky and find what you want. You can also try the built-in search on the search page which does allow ordering by date.

I also think the search function misses anything recent. I've given up on it and stopped recommending it to other posters.
