I mostly shop at Whole Foods and buy organic. But the extra virgin olive oils I’ve tried recently just seem so bitter and unpleasant.
Any recommendations? I don’t mind going elsewhere for something good. |
| People seem to be buying them at Trader Joes. |
|
Did you try Graza? That's my go-to these days.
For a slightly milder and fruity olive oil, I like Zoe a lot but it's harder to find. |
| I generally like the extra virgin Spanish olive oil at trader Joe's, but it has a fairly strong flavor, which some may pick up as bitter. |
| I buy the MOM’s house brand. |
| Costco Kirkland brand is been winning for purity. |

This is good. Wait till the season pressing. Olio Nuovo in spring and fall.

| I like California Olive Ranch robust version. |
Couple years ago began the great olive shortage in Europe due to crop failures etc. Since then, many growers/factories and even exporters/importers have been "cutting" the oil with lesser grade olive oil or other low grade oils like seed oils such as Canola, and passing them off as "virgin". Also the food colorings and dyes used to give it a greener tint. |

Got this on sale and love it. |
| If you are nearby either the Falls Church or Westover Farmers Markets, there is an olive oil person there that has fantastic olive oil. |
| Goya extra virgin is good, so is Costco organic extra virgin |
