My 20 yr old cousin (once removed) just spent a week in the hospital far from home for a medical issue that MAY have been caused by excessive drinking (way beyond alcohol poisoning). Neither of her parents got to her until the night she was released from the hospital, though her father couldn't go because he was too furious (this is very out of character for him - he's normally the nicest guy and best dad ever). So I feel bad for her - it's hard to know your limits sometimes and college kids screw up, blah blah blah.
I looked up her issue and she has to eat a bland diet so I was going to send her jello that doesn't have artificial dyes in it, until I realized jello shots. So now I'm just sending her a card. But all the platitudes I'd normally write in a get well card are things old people would appreciate. What do I write to a 20 yr old girl who also may NOT have had this medical issue due to drinking (and I'm possibly not meant to know about the drinking). We know each other, but not well - we last saw each other at my mom's funeral four years ago. |

Dear Cuz,
I heard you were sick the other week and I wanted to let you know I am thinking about you. If you need anything at all, feel free to give me a call or a quick email. I've got your back. Get well soon. Love, Larla |
THANK YOU! This is the perfect tone I wanted to achieve. Thank you so much. |
