I switched parties following the Charlie Kirk shooting

Anonymous
I've been registered as a Democrat my entire voting life. I'm a millennial and came of age in the mid 2000s. George Bush and the Iraq war made it fairly easy to identify and register as a Democrat, though I have always considered myself a moderate Democrat.

What really sealed the deal for me, though, was that around this time, the absolute most vile element in all of politics, in my opinion, was the Westboro Baptist Church. They carried around signs that said “God hates **gs” and disrupted military funerals with these types of messages. There was no way I wanted to identify, even remotely, with this type of ideology.

Since then, I have voted for Obama twice, Clinton, Biden, and Kamala. But after seeing the murder of Charlie Kirk—and especially the grotesque cheering of something like this—it became clear to me that the worst elements in all of politics are now on the left. Shockingly, the extreme leftists today are the modern Westboro Baptist Church.

I cannot associate myself with this and switched my party affiliation to Republican. I doubt I will vote straight-ticket Republican in the future; I still expect to vote for some Democrats. I never thought this day would come, but here we are. (I've seen reports of many others doing the same, as below.) Has anyone else reconsidered their affiliation with the Democrats in light of recent events?

I call BS. Here you are pumping up Trump before he was even sworn in for his second term and accusing others of Trump Derangement Syndrome:

This is you starting an entire thread about Trump's accomplishments:

Here is another post of yours in that thread in which you say how much you support Trump:

Given that you appear to be trolling, I'm going to lock this thread.
