Old starts at 55. Elderly is 65.

Old is a physical and mental state and age of onset varies by individual.

My Godparents were sprightly, in good health and very much their own mental self until their mid-80s, and that's when they started slowing down, and one needed stents put in.

By contrast, my parents really starting slowing down at 70, and didn't want to travel, go out or do their usual stuff.

Ha. You won’t think that when you’re 65.

Within the medical realm, 65 is clinically early elderly and 75+ is clinically late elderly.

The range of experience of elderly is expansive; some 90-somethings are out running every day, but most are struggling to get up and down from a chair.

Great. We should change the ages for Social Security and Medicare.

We really should, otherwise we're going to run out of money.

Expanding access to medical assistance in dying can help, too. It should be free.

My grandparents used to use old, worn-out threadbare towels, but had thick, luxurious ones for guests. One time someone asked my grandfather why they didn’t use the nice towels, too. He said that my grandmother had told him they were saving those for when they got old. She looked over at him and said, “Buddy, you’re there.”

On the other hand, here’s Dick Van Dyke suggesting “You’re Never Too Old to Be Young”.

When your title has more typos than words, you are elderly.
