Hi, has anyone been through hysteroscopy procedure to remove polyps from uterus? Did your polyps permanently gone? Any post long term side effects you had? I am trying to invade natural or homeopathy treatment which I have heard has positive results. Any leads will help.

Yes, I had one to have three polyps removed. No long-term side effects and as far as I know, polyps haven’t come back. I had it done as an in-office procedure because I was trying to conceive and didn’t want to wait to do the procedure in the hospital. The only downside to that was there was no anesthesia used (not even local), but honestly the pain was bearable and then it was just done. I’d recommend getting the procedure.

I am trying not to but the doctor is seeing a tiny mass in my uterus line which needs to get biopsy done. And my very heavy bleeding is another thing which is causing concern.
Why shouldn’t I go for hysteroscopy?

When was your procedure done? Now my doctor is saying that it will be general anesthesia. If I heard it right?

I just had a biopsy done 10 days ago. Benign. I am post menopausal. Had another issue that led to pelvic ultrasound that recommended biopsy and hysteriscopy. Doc does not want to do hysteroscopy unless I start bleeding because it would be under general anesthesia. We are going to be moving soon so I’ll get a second opinion from my next doctor.

I just had one 3 months ago and a couple polyps were removed. I also had a LEEP done at the same time. It was done in a hospital, under general anesthesia. The hysteroscopy caused me to have some cramping and bleeding. Neither was bad or lasted a long time. Ibuprofen was all I needed. I definitely could have gone to work the next day.

My doctor said I couldn’t be submerged under water for 4-6 weeks after the procedure, so no baths or swimming. Nothing, including tampons, could be inserted for at least 2 weeks, so no sex. I had my post op check 2 weeks after the procedure, and I wasn’t healed all the way, so those 2 week restrictions became 6 week restrictions.

Since it’s only been 3 months, I can’t comment on whether polyps returned.

I had mine under general anesthesia in hospital as a larger polyp was blocking my fallopian tube and causing me to be infertile. I did have a complication.

About ?2-3 days later I stood up and felt a pop almost then started having excruciating cyclic pelvic cramping that my sister said looked like labor. Apparently the clotted area had come free and I was passing it through my cervix ( ouch).

Turns out 20 years later I have EDS so lots of weird healing problems due to bad collagen. Hopefully won’t happen to you but they told me it does happen with some regularity. I took Motrin and hot baths? I think and it resolved. Got pregnant the month after so totally worth it

Just had this done. In office with topical anesthesia. Was uncomfortable but quick. It's only been a month but no issues so far.

Mine was done in 2021. After the procedure, my doctor said if she had known how big one turned out to be, she likely would have recommend in-hospital under general, so it wouldn’t surprise me if general was discussed with you. I’d ask if you could do in-office, if you’d prefer that.

I had it done. They first did it in office which was horrifically painful and unpleasant and didn't work. Then I did it as outpatient surgery and it went well.
