How do I gain trust back

Anonymous
My work bestie, who became my boss, recently resigned with no notice and screwed over my whole team including myself and ever since this happened my team has given me the cold shoulder. I know I deserve it to some degree and have definitely learned my lesson about being friends with coworkers, but a project I was wrong went totally sideways because I was given bad info on purpose from this person. I’m now getting accused of blowing this project up on purpose.

Leadership called me into a meeting yesterday and told me my job is at risk and I’ve been completely shunned from meetings since this happened, so I’ve now been screwed over by the team I’ve worked with for three years and my former close friend and boss. I’m sad and know it is what it is to some degree but I worked really hard to be a good peer to all of them. I’m looking for a new job but really want to leave on good terms. Any advice is appreciated!

Why are they blaming you? Did you know bestie was leaving?

They assume I know and are mad I didn’t tell them, that’s part of it. She told me she was quitting but promised me she’d give notice and didn’t

Work on an exit plan immediately!
I know it sucks, but it is temporary pain.

Your team sounds very juvenile. They need a place to direct their anger and unfortunately, you have been selected as the target.

Is there a reason as to why your friend didn't give notice? Honestly, it sounds like a toxic workplace.

This is very strange. All the blame should be directed at your boss.

If your boss burnt people and you are a known acolyte of said boss, then you better go packing. People say suck
up to boss, but this is a known hazard.

Op, did you have an improper relationship with your boss?

This sounds like an almost cartoonishly toxic workplace.
