What makes you feel like you have it together?

bit of a spinoff from the what will you never get on top of thread.

For me, flowers and clean surfaces. A vase of flowers somewhere central, and no food smears or crumbs on surfaces feel like a enough of a win to go on with.

No laundry bins stuffed to the top. Or on a similar note, DS not digging through his laundry the night before a game because he can't find his kit.

A stocked fridge with colorful items. Means I have my stuff together enough to do a full shop and have a meal plan.

Cooking for my family, having a blowout, gardening and having enough to share with my neighbors

I have taken photos of the refrigerator and looked at them in stressful moments. Some kind of atavistic hunter-gatherer impulse at play there I think.

Kitchen table free of piles of homework, mail, etc (hard to achieve), sparkling clean bathrooms

My to-do list accomplished, two hours at the gym and dinner on the table.

Agree on both. But my spouse loves to have his paperwork all over the table. He's lost without it. And we don't have a house large enough to give him his own dining room table sized office (a desk doesn't work).

You ladies are better people than me! I was going to post about what I do to fake being put together in front of other people, and here this thread is about finding your own internal sense of peace. I have tears, seriously.

That's so 1950s. Welcome to the 21st century where you learn that no one is "put together" thanks to ubiquitous sharing on various platforms.

We have a fuzzy throw blanket on the sofa in in our family room. The house is a total mess but whenever a kid uses the throw and bundles it up in a ball or drapes it across the floor, I fold it up neatly and lay across the back of the sofa. Every. Friggin. Time. It makes the mess go away, in my head.

This is the equivalent of your bedroom being a sh*tshow, so you make your bed and it instantly looks calmer and cleaner.
