The Daily is probably the most egregious example of this, where you have someone speaking and the interviewer or cohost makes HMMMM or other listening noises. I have seen this on a lot of other podcast now, is this actually making the experience better? I find it so distracting and I know they can edit them out even if they are making them naturally. |
I had to stop listening to The Daily because of this and the overuse of pregnant pauses. I couldn’t deal with it. I just want the news or a good story. Not the soap opera version of the news. |
I’ve made it into a bit of a game and just do it before they do. I anticipate correctly about 95% of the time. |
