what shoes did you wear in the rain today?

I walk from home to metro and then to the office and need some comfy shoes to walk in the rain. (i.e. not suede, not big fan of boots, but if that's what works).

Thanks for your suggestions.

I never bought any but crocs (trust me on this) makes cute flats that I think would be great in the rain since they're rubber. Galoshes don't really work with business clothes but if you get the flats in black they'd probably blend right in.

Wellingtons--come in a range of fun colors, even silver and gold! and are sturdy if a bit stodgy. This is DC after all, so stodgy is just fine.

Wouldn't they become uncomfortable or slippery when wet?

Are we too old to do the Sporto duck shoes if we did them in the 80s?

Yes, and they looked silly even then!

I don't have any, but I think La Canadienne makes some weatherproof options that look like normal streetwear.

Sperry's work fabulously in the rain, and they have styles and fabrics that don't clash with officewear.

There are flats that look incredibly versatile, or you could go with loafers in a dressier patent leather.

Me too. I know many hate them, but they are great in the rain.

Are those in style again????? I had a pair of pink and green ones in the 80's (puke). I also had a pair of maroon and Navy Chris Craft ones -- I thought I was so cool.

I saw someone wearing them on the street. It brought back such memories! She was old enough that I wondered whether she had saved them all these years.

There's a certain degree of preppy revival happening in some circles, but it's supposed to have an ironic twist now (like most everything else, naturally).

I just got a pair of these LL Bean skimmers - they're like an updated version of those duck shoes. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable these were!
