Halloween in high school

What do your high school kids do on Halloween, if anything? Are they still trick or treating? Getting together with friends? Or is it just another night?

My older teen always finds parties to go to, usually one on Friday and one on Saturday. She and friends plan and coordinate costumes in advance. My younger teen’s friend group isn’t as adept at organizing (less parties also) so they’re more last minute. TBD.

This. Older teens call it “Hallo-weekend” and there are usually parties. Younger teens hang at a friends house - maybe dress up and just hit a few houses if they feel like it.

My 15 year old DD and her best friend are very much into the costuming. Since they're in a neighborhood that treats Halloween like the main event of the year, they still go out and take in the sights, because so many people go all out. But it's not about the candy, it's the experience.

Kids don't trick or treat at that age, unless they are taking along younger siblings or cousins.
Many will either trick (pranks, vandalize, etc.) or go to parties to drink, smoke, drugs, and hookup. Raves are still a thing and popular on Halloween cause all the costumes, lights, smoke, mixed with the Molly and music make for weird vibes.

My freshman and most of her friends will all be at club volleyball tryouts since they start on the evening of 10/31 this year. If they didn’t, I’m pretty sure they would be trick or treating still. They all went last year. They will go to Cox Farms field of fear some other weekend.

My older kid doesn’t play volleyball and usually eats a lot of the candy we are handing out. He will probably do something with friends just because it’s on a Friday night, not because of Halloween. They stopped trick or treating years ago and didn’t care much about costumes.

Our neighborhood is a destination area for Halloween and people go all out.

My high schoolers have had friends over the last few years. The kids dress up and go trick or treating for a half hour or so and see the main concentration of Halloween stuff in our neighborhood. Then they come back to our house and watch scary movies.

My teens go to Field of Fears with friends and then just hand out candy on Halloween.

We don't allow parties on the "big" nights (hoco, Halloween, prom etc.)

Mine still went trick or treating as a younger teen. Not sure what he’ll do this year.
