surgery for tendonitis - does it work?

Anonymous
Anyone ever get surgery for tendonitis that just would not heal after long term rest and conservative treatment? Did it work? I've been battling tennis elbow for 3 years now. It just will not heal. If I rest, the pain will subside, but it means I have to have zero active lifestyle because you need to use your arms for everything. It also keeps coming back immediately after I rested for weeks on end. Right now it is very painful even to the touch. I am at my wit's end on what to do with conservative treatment. I know you can get outpatient surgery, but I am skeptical that it works. Can surgery fix most tendonitis issues that wont go away? If you've gotten surgery for tennis elbow, how long until you saw relief?

Good physical therapist. You will not be resting but doing actual exercises and following a program to reach your specific goal.

I have wrist and elbow problems. A good PT and dry needling made a huge difference.

Have they done an MRI to make sure it’s tendonitis versus a tear? Also PT?

I have had tendinitis in my feet and my wrist and rest did not help. Physical/occupational therapy did

Yes what else have you done? You should be wearing an extension limiting wrist brace for a couple months while frequently taking it off to stretch your extensors.

Yeah rest does nothing to heal it. You need manual therapies. Cupping, scraping, dry needling, etc. that you would get in PT. Never heard of surgery for tendinitis itself. If there is an underlying problem causing it surgery could help but not just for tendinitis itself
