If you went on it to loose a substantial amount of weight, you have a much greater chance of needing to be on it for life. If you were doing it to loose 15-20lbs because you sort of got stuck in a too high middle aged weight rut but otherwise have healthy eating habits, you have a better chance of maintaining the lower weight. I have friends in both camps. One friend who had been heavy her whole life and gains weight looking cross-eyed at anything other than a vegetable, will be on it for the rest of her life. She’s okay with that because she has addressed all sorts of other medical issues as a result of shedding the weight. Another friend gained a bunch of pounds during menopause but was a pretty healthy eater and she went on Zep for three months to shed 20 lbs (I think she stayed on the lowest dose). She tapered off the drug and has kept it off give or take a pound or two.
