Yesterday evening after dark, our mid-80s neighbor rang the doorbell accusing us of stealing his internet and turning on his computer from inside of our house. Partner was able to calm him down, but he came back 2X trying to get us to come fix his computer.
This happened once a few years ago with similar accusations. Again right around sunset. We see neighbor daily, and never have issues. During the day he’s never mentioned these issues. We feel a little unsettled. WYYD? |
what's sundowners precious |
Yes, I mean you can’t diagnose him with anything specific but multiple forms of dementia can be worse at night. |
Does he have any family that comes around? |
No. We see someone that could potentially be family visit maybe 2X per year. |
This happened in our neighborhood a few years ago. County/police had to get involved several times. The couple had adult sons who were basically useless. |
Possibly. Though if he's normal 99% of the time, I'd be wondering if something else was going on. Sundowners usually companies dementia, not just old people for no reason. However infections, especially UTIs, can cause confusion and behavior changes in the elderly. If he has no family and you're not comfortable going to check on him, I'd call a wellness check. Unfortunately we get quite a few elderly patients brought into the hospital via wellness check. |
Honestly, it sounds like he may have a weed problem. It can cause crazy paranoia like this. |
