was this sexual?

Anonymous

My daughter (21) told me a man she doesn’t know at her volunteering gig, came up to her and gave her the ”oral sign”.
I asked her what that is and she took out her tongue and it’s a quick wiggling motion. Like how the guy does it in Scarface to pick up women.

Is this a TikTok trend? Should I be concerned?

I don’t know what that is. Link YouTube.

Why would you be concerned about your adult daughter’s sex life?

She’s only 21. Some parents still care. I know you don’t but OP does.

Did you ask her how it made her feel ?

She might be afraid or confused.

I hope it is not sexual harassment.

Such policies apply to volunteers as well.

Only 21? She’s probably been sexually active for half a decade.

Yes it's sexual. It means he would like to do that to her.

OP, it's entirely inappropriate for a stranger to make this gesture to her at a place she volunteers. She should report the man to her boss.

Was it another volunteer or staff member? That's not ok. If it was a client (like if she's volunteering at a homeless shelter) that's still not ok but somewhat more understandable if she's working with mentally ill or people with low impulse control. Either way, depending on how she feels, she should tell her supervisor and have them implement changes and/or stop volunteering there.

It was but what would you/your daughter do with that information?

Yes. Not in a like "I'm so traumatized" way, but to create a record of his behavior so he can be monitored and banned if necessary.

Absolutely. Paper trails are helpful.
