Has anyone had a cat with aldosteronism? Our cat's potassium has been precipitously dropping for the past six months, and he's been in and out of the hospital. We thought it was caused by hypertension (which led to a stroke). We put him on blood pressure meds, and he improved greatly, but his potassium crashed again. I read about this condition on the Internet. It would explain his high blood pressure (and stroke), muscle weakness, and low potassium. I'm surprised our vet hasn't considered this possibility. We guess that he's about 12-13 years old. |
