I am curious whether it is still expected to have third graders read out loud at home on a regular basis. We had our DC do that in first grade and for a lot of second grade, but once they seemed to be in a good spot we backed off a bit (and DC started to push back on doing it).
DC reads quite a bit, but not sure if we are letting things slide too much on reading out loud. |
Yes |
They read recipes, mail, shopping lists, all kinds of random signs, etc. Not worried about it. |
Almost never. |
It is helpful. For someone reading well at 3rd, perhaps less than essential. |
We do, but as a time to address speech issues more than reading. |
