Where in the Caribbean for spring break?

Anonymous
We are trying to figure out what island for spring break with our two high school students. We haven’t been to the Caribbean for many years; last time was St Kitts in 2016, our second time. I/we have also been to Grand Cayman (once), St Thomas with day trips to St John (twice) and Puerto Rico (twice). Some of this was pre kids. I think we would like to go somewhere new, though I am open to returning to Puerto Rico. (I haven’t been there in about 25 years.) We are not all-inclusive people, though would like to go somewhere with a great pool or pools. Other priorities: would like a great beach, good snorkeling, ideally some (easy) pretty hiking. I would prefer to have two separate bedrooms—either two hotel rooms or a suite, and my kids are no longer willing to share a sofa bed—hopefully for under $800 a night total. Where would you go?

I gave up on the islands - just way too $$. I go to Costa Rica now.

We went to Costa Rica a couple years ago and loved it. But it is a pretty recent trip so probably not ready to repeat yet.

Two rooms or a suite at a place with “great pools” for $800 is a tall order during spring break. You could maybe get one room for that, maybe. We are using points on our one room but the cash price for the room is over $1k. And that’s four of us in 2Q beds.

I hear you re price. We could go up if need be. Tell me your island recommendations though.

If you're willing to ferry from St. Thomas, I would reommend the BVIs. Stay on Jost Van Dyke or Tortola.

Price out a cruise from FL vs PR, Aruba (condo), St. James Club Antigua, and Baja Mar Bahamas.

I’m not a pool person bc I prefer the beach/ocean, but those places should deliver.

Aruba was nice. Good snorkling. Almost always sunny. A little windy. Good restaurants. They have a national park you can hike around. Jeep tour was fun too. Try VBRO for a condo.
