Today SAT - Yorktown HS

Anonymous
Anyone know when to pick up today after the SAT? I’m wondering if they started late as there was a crazy long line outside the school when I dropped my kid off at 8am. Weird that they weren’t letting kids in

Not from the DC area, but the doors should be open by 7:45. Maybe they were letting kids in, but their ID checking process was slow?

My kid was done with the SAT by 11:00 am. As you are anticipating, that will depend on what time they get started.

Thx. It didn’t look like the doors opened at 7.45. Either the line was moving super slow or by 8 am they hadn’t even opened the doors yet. The whole street was backed up

I dropped off at 7:40 and the line was huge and didn’t seem to be moving. I had to drive by W-L right after that and it looked like there was no session at W-L today which is why Yorktown is so full. I had wondered why there were no seats at WL when we registered on the day they opened registration. In the spring my kid called me at around 11:45, but if they’re running late who knows.

Yorktown for SAT is always a $hitshow. I drove my kid to Annandale for the 2nd one because it takes forever to start the test there.

I wish I’d known that. I’m the PP and when he took the SAT at WL, it was no drama. Drove up, dropped him off, and I think he went right inside. When we were registering this time, I had some choices, but Yorktown was closest to us so I picked that. I would have picked Wakefield had we known. Surprisingly enough, when I looked up sites yesterday to double check cancellations, McLean HS was cancelled. They maybe also had a bunch of those kids trying to get seats as well.

I avoid Yorktown at all costs but DD is there today. I mentally prepared her she might be in an auditorium balancing her laptop on a small “desk” instead of a normal classroom. McLean is a way better experience. Wish her private offered it more.
